New Addition

I have to finally say we have a new addition to our house....

Riley (our new Addition)

Meet Riley our Blue heeler and Fox terrier mix!!! He is a lovely puppy..not full of energy yet and very calm around my 6 year old daughter.

We did rescue a dog last week at an animal shelter. When I walked into the place I thought I was going to vomit. The pungeant smell of urine and cats did not mix with me. We went to meet a 1 year old pup named Sheba. Beautiful dog. As soon as I saw her I knew she was a Pitbull. I was a little skeptical to take her home as she was this breed and didn't know her background. We asked the lady if we could walk her outside and she handed us the leash and said take her home. So, with that being said we took her to Pet Smart, she played with all the other dogs, we spent a fortune and then came home. We werent in the house for more than an hour when Andy tried to go outside. The dog Lunged at the door, growled, snarled and then wimpered. Scary. Andy was not happy with the dogs behavior. He didn't want to keep the dog after this. I wasn't nervous, until the next morning when I went to let her out for a walk. I got up out of the bed and she jumped at me ready to attack. Sad to say, we did give her back after the lady gave us a hard time. I didn't feel this was the dog for our home.

This Is Sheba (The dog we didn't keep)

Needless to say we did find Riley on a farm out in Pheonix, NY. He is everything we wanted in a dog. We did look up temperment of our dog. It stated friendly, energetic, playful, needs to be with active people...PERFECT!! Now We will be traveling with a dog to all our events as well!! :)

Mixed adventures

Today was a day of mixed adventures. We started off car shopping as my lease is almost up on my Jeep Liberty. I can honestly say I am ready to give this car back. As soon as I walked into the dealership I was greeted like a red carpet star with paparrazi ready to snap a picture. But they were eager and greedy to get to me to make a sale instead. I had a few cars in mind. I still cannot decide what I want so I left the guy hanging without any notice that I would be back to make a deal or not. Oh well, Im sure they made a sale today on some other sucker.

Next was our trip to Petland. I wanted to see what animals they had in stock. The lady said they get new dogs in every Tuesday and after strict observation they can come out to play on Fridays. Now today, the store was packed with kids playing with open ferrets, birds, hamsters. Me I wanted nothing to do with any of them. I wanted to look at the dogs. See I have been thinking about getting a dog for a while. One that can prance around with me when I run. I told the guy our expectations and he pointed out some dogs to us. A lady came over to us in her safari uniform and set us into a socialization room where we could bond with the dog of our choice. The first one was a PUG. That puppy was filled with so much energy, I think she bit me about 10 times in the 10 min we got to play with her. Next up for our socialization was a collie. The puppy was so scared for the first few minutes I felt so bad. I picked him up and held him close. He was shaking. I put him  down on the floor and all of a sudden the walls came down and he started playing with my daughter and My boyfriends shoe laces. The last puppy we looked at was a Boston Terrier. My favorite dog ever. I just wanted to scoop him up in my shirt and jet out of the store. We decided on asking how much it would be to take the puppy home. It will be 1200 the lady said to us. I was floored at how much they wanted for this dog. I reluctantly gave the dog back and cried inside. I will definately look for a Boston somewhere else. I guess pure breds are very expensive, but this one wasn't even registered yet!!!

We did a few more errands, running to the Bike shop for some accessories. I decided to pick up a double AquaCell bottle to put in my aerobars for the HIM. I like the bottle. It has a 32oz compartment and a 16 oz one as well. I will put water in the smaller one and my PowerBar Endurance in the other one. This should last me a couple hours.

Lastly, we hopped into the local pool for a dip. It was a hot day but the pool is in the shade and it was a little chilly. I asked my boyfriend to take a short video of my swimming. You see, everyday I include a little portion of my ventures as a triathlete. Even if it means sneeking strokes in while Im playing with my daughter in the pool!! Here is a Video of my stroke:

This was a quick video but I think I need to Keep my arms a little closer to the water and glide a little bit more, but otherwise I like the way my stroke looks!! 1 week from today is IRONGIRL!! It is a sprint race off of Oneida Shores in New York. I want to go all out and hold nothing back!! Hopefully I will be happy with the results!!

Whirlwind weekend

This weekend was a whirlwind. Got a call from my mother early Saturday morning she wasn't feeling well at work, I told her to go to Urgent Care. They felt she needed more medical attention and rushed her to the ER for more testing. We sat in the ER for 5 hourse just to have them Transfer her to a bigger hospital so they could do more testing.

To make things short, she woke up with dizziness, was ok after a few minutes, headed to work and felt even worse with dizziness, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, headaches. She is doing ok. Better than yesterday thank god!!! After 14 hours of ER care, she is settled into her room in the Neuro Unit in the best Hospital in the world!!! Upstate Medical University Hospital in Syracuse NY. That place is so beautiful. They have the new Golisano Childrens Hospital up and Running and it was the most unbelievably beautiful wing. I went up to check it out and it was simply amazing to see such art and colors in array of Stars, shapes, etc. Any child would love it here despite what their problems are! Props to the people who designed this. Im Very impressed.

On the flip side, I was signed up for the Owasco flyer and since my mother was in "Stable" condition, I decided to ride it with my cycle Club, the Velo Bellas and of course my Brother-in-law.

This course has alot of challenging hills on the back side of the course with over 2,000 feet of climbing!!

I was riding with a woman, we were helping each other out after I got dropped after the first 10 miles due to people sandwiching me in on a hill and I couldnt pass. Around 20 miles my chain fell off, around 25 miles my partner went down in the ditch after trying to grab a glass of water from a volunteer. They told me to keep riding after I stopped as the marshalls were there, but I still felt bad. After all our hard work.

I managed 3rd in my age group with a time of 2:00:26. Not too shabby for a Hilly 36 mile course!!!

I then had to shower and get back to the hospital...Awaiting MRI results!!
