Today was My chance to run with my Flashdance outfit!! Woo hoo!! I told you I like Halloween for the simple fact of not being yourself for one day. Where people wont make fun of you for being crazy. Wait did I just say that?!! Ok Most of the time I don't care what people think anyways.
Heres how the day went...
It was a dreary morning and I was really worried that it would be a bit chilly in my leotard. I bundled up in my costume and sweats. Ate a hearty bowl of Oats with raisins, had a Hammer Heed drink and was out the door 2 hours later. As I was approaching one of the intersections, I was greated by the most beautiful sight in the world. A rainbow. I thought YES it is going to be a beautiful day for a run!!
I arrived about an Hour early and Im glad I did. I still needed to pick up my race number and shirt, go to the bathroom, you know the usual stuff you do before a race! I found some of my local running buddies and chit chatted for a bit and did a warm up mile. It was a bit chilly but good because I get hot quickly when I run!! It was 42 degrees at the start. Perfect!!
What I don't like about this run is they have you start in a wide open field and then as soon as the gun goes off you are bottlenecking into a trail. I probably should've mentioned that to my coach when she wanted me to run a 8:40 first mile! Ahhh was I freaking out!
When the gun went off of course I was talking and was in the back of the crowd so as we bottlenecked in I looked at my watch and it took us almost 3 min to get into the trail itself! and to top it off they start the timer
in the open field so you have to be in front or trample, kick, trip, people down to get to the lead. I would never do that so I politely said ON YER LEFT, On YER RIGHT!! It was kind of annoying when people didn't move out of the way. I thought about tripping people...naw that would make more work for me in the long run!! So I nudged a little and said sorry. Whooops!!
THis was a beautiful Trail run with some bridges that were sinking and quite slippery!!
Mile 1- 8:50- By MY watch
Mile 2- 8:50
Mile 3- 9:10
Total time 26:50- my real time
On the clock, 29:43 or some boloney like that!!
Afterward we snacked on Brueggar Bagels!! YUM!! But they ran out of water!! WHAT?!!!
Giving a warm up to everyone....Ha Ha!! |

ReplyDeleteOooh, and I hope I can win something. I've been in such denial about my first winter in the NE! #1: follow, check! #2: Halloween costume... I was Pretty in Pink Barbie one year. Not too creative, but I went all out & it was a goodie! #3: Most embarrassing tri moment. Oy. I went to rack my bike the day before Syracuse 70.3. I was such a nervous mess. I got to the entry & the guy wouldn't let me in since I didn't have my stickers on my bike. Of course, it took me a good 5 minutes to figure out what he was talking about & people were backed up behind me. Yep. Left the stickers at the hotel! NEWBIE!
Ha ha!!! YEP NEWBIE!!! :) Great one!
ReplyDeleteGreat run today! You looked super hawt!! I am a follower, so count me in for one entry.
ReplyDeleteOne of my most embarrassing racing moments was at my first triathlon when I put my shoes on in T1, and then realized I was still wearing my wetsuit! I had pulled it halfway down on the run up, then forgot to take it off the rest of the way!!
ReplyDeleteGood job on your run today! How fun that you got to dress up in a costume to run! Someday I'll do a fun Halloween run like that! :)
ReplyDeleteFor the giveaway: I'm a follower!
My most embarrassing tri moment was during the run portion of one of the tris I did. Usually after I get off the bike I stop at a port-a-potty before I start the run, but I forgot at this one race. By mile 2 of the run I had to go so bad (#1) and there wasn't a port-a-potty in sight. So, I just went. It was pretty gross, but honestly I don't think anyone really noticed b/c we're all gross by that point in the run anyways! Ha ha
ReplyDeleteOne year when I was teaching 5th grade, I came up with the idea of being a Witch doctor. I wore a black witch hat with long black hair and doctor's scrubs. Get it...witch doctor..ha ha. Most of my kids didn't get it, but their parents thought it was pretty clever! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat one Aimee!! Ha ha!! Witch Doctor!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower of your blog already. I was Collette Reardon this year. Remember Cheri Oteris character from SNL that had crazy hair, makeup everywhere, and used a shopping cart to go in to the pharmacy for her refills. Apparently my translation was lost on most as some people thought I was a mental patient, prostitute, a wild partier. I will try harder next year. Most embarrassing moment was recently realizing AFTER my swim that the back nether region area of my suit was completely transparent. Perfect! I was chatting with another lap swimmer and wasn't sure why he kept staring as I walked out of the pool.

ReplyDelete**awesome rainbow** even awesome-r costume!!
My best Halloween costume was for a party as an adult. It was this beautiful and elaborate Angel costume with big glittery wings, a halo, robe with golden ropes-my Mom made it and it was GORGOUS! the I had a little devil tail sticking out the bottom of the robes and under it was this sexy little devil get up. Later on in the night, the Angel layer came off and the horns replaced the halo :)
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh....fun in your 20's!! LOL
no embarassing S/B/R moments yet...
ReplyDeletebut a not tri swim related moment-I did a dophin swim down in FL and they told me to wear a one pc suit for the swim but I did not have one so I just wore a bikini.
When the dophins did a double tow (one on each side of you) and you hold onto the dorsal fin and pull you thru the the water my top FLEW off and I was being pulled all over by two dophins topless.
Luckily there was a LOT of padding in the top and it was just there...floating.
Yea-it's all on tape too :P
I am a follower! I don't really do Halloween dressing up so I don't have any ideas but one year I was a blood doping cyclist.
ReplyDeleteMy most embarassing moment have not happened in a race but on a training run. I had a very unpleasant visit from the stomach monster and I din't make it home in time!

ReplyDeleteHalloween costume idea - not mine- it may be a reflection on my inner b%*&^h, but I think it is kinda funny- "gene pool lifeguard" :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't had any embarrassing moments. Yet. However, I had an awkward moment at my daughters tri last year. I was standing in line beside her while she was waiting for the swim to start. The guy next to me said "So, which distance are you racing tomorrow?" Ummmmm, neither? :) Geesh dude.
ReplyDeleteIm a new follower!
ReplyDeletemy best halloween costume ive done so far was a pregnant britney spears & k-fed haha
ReplyDeletemy most emabarrasing moment was in my first triathlon with I started out on the run, then thought I was going the wrong way, so I turned around . Luckily the volunteers guided me in the right direction!
ReplyDeleteI follow you!! (Hey, thanks for voting for my video on the Steve in a speedo contest!!)
ReplyDeletehalloween costume - I always wanted to be a pregnant nun with my hubby dressed as my priest!
ReplyDeleteMy first triathlon = I sat on the ground trying to get on my cotton socks after the swim (I'm a really good swimmer) with shaking hands and slippery/sticky hands/feet while the pros are by passing me in T1. Then I couldn't get my shoes tied since I was so nervous and shaky.
ReplyDeleteI was totally lame with a SUPER long T1.
::sigh::
Nice costume!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the picture of the rainbow, my brain immediately thought, "What does it mean?"
I am a follower....
My best halloween costume idea is to go as a muppet. Either the Mahnamana guy or as Beaker
ReplyDeleteMost embarrasing moment in a tri was my first. I passed everyone on the bike, and then was repassed by everyone (i mean everyone) on the run. I quickly learned that I needed to run more!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower! (a new one :))
ReplyDeleteI thought it would have been fun to go as FLOW from the progressive commercials.... but didn't dress up this year b/c I was at the world series!!!
ReplyDeletemost embarrassing swim moment.... I had to doggie paddle for about 2 minutes my very first triathlon... I was so nervous and couldn't catch my breath, it was terrible
ReplyDeletei'm a new follower.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower : ) Great costume!
ReplyDeletemy best idea, was when I wrapped myself in platic wrap, put a ticket on my shirt, and went as dry cleaning!

ReplyDeleteNext year a bunch of us are going to be characters from the Office!
ReplyDeleteI have only done one triathlon so far, but it was pretty embarrassing to feel like the only one not knowing what I was doing!
ReplyDeleteI'm already a follower!
ReplyDeleteMy best Halloween costume was when I went as World Peace. I had a mask that was the earth and I sewed little felt people holding hands all around my costume.
ReplyDeleteMy most embarassing triathlon moment... gosh, there's been so many. Probably when I got passed by this woman who was like 7 months pregnant.
ReplyDeleteIm a new follower :)
ReplyDeleteNew follower.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say my moment would be when I had to stop and pee along the road and car went by. Yikes! My lookout wasn't doing her job.
ReplyDeleteBest costume idea was for this year and it was a confused voter. Taped those annoying flyers from the mail all over and carried my pamhlet with a confused face.
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower. Found you over at Erica's blog!
ReplyDeleteMy best Halloween costume was something I just did for my daughter. I usually store buy things but this year I went all out and made it by hand. Fabric, pattern, sewing and fringe... the whole package! Anyway, she was a Native Indian complete with facepaint, braided wig, and an Apaloosa horse. We took her to a Halloween horse show and added a little costume paint to her Bay horse to make him look like an Apaloosa "cuz that's what a real Indian would ride, mom!" It was sooo cute and so much fun too!
ReplyDeleteMy most embarassing moment running would probably be when my dog and I got sprayed by a skunk. We were both banned from the house til we got the smell off!
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower!!! I badly need the winter gear but don't have the money for it yet so I'm excited to be in this contest!!! :)
ReplyDeleteIf I could dress up as anyone (and pull it off!) I'd go as Tinkerbell, the most awesome pixie of all. :P
ReplyDeleteI haven't been running long enough to have a really embarrassing moment... except for that time when the announcer for the race called out for a moment of silence and I was talking so loudly it took me a minute or two to realize why everyone else was suddenly quiet... :P
